Dairy-Free Hot Chocolate Mix Ingredients

3 ingredient hot chocolate mix recipe ingredients on table.
  • Cacao powder – Cacao powder gives this homemade hot chocolate mix a rich chocolate flavor. It has been minimally processed, so it still contains many nutrients and supportive properties. Dutch process cocoa powder is a popular choice for hot chocolate mix because it has a smoother chocolate flavor without being too bitter. Either one will work here; try to use a good-quality brand of chocolate powder.
  • Sugar – Cane sugar is used to sweeten this dairy free hot cocoa mix. This recipe is not overly sweet, if you desire a sweeter hot chocolate, use an additional 1/4 cup of sugar. Don’t use powdered sugar, because it contains anti-caking agents which can give your hot chocolate mix an “off” taste.
  • Salt – Every sweet drink needs a little salt to help balance it out!
