Cocoa powder is the powder version of cocoa beans. It has a rich chocolate taste that is not too overwhelming. I’m not a huge chocolate fan so it’s perfect for my taste! You will want to use a good quality powder, I’ll link the one I love!
I used 1 cup of cocoa powder and ½ cup of granulated cane sugar, and as a result, this hot chocolate mix is not super sweet, which is why I love it. However, if you prefer a sweeter drink, I suggest you use a ¼ cup more sugar than the recipe calls for!
Every sweet drink needs a little salt to help balance it out!
That’s it, a super easy recipe for Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix that doesn’t include any powdered sugar, milk powder, fillers, or artificial flavors!

Frequently asked questions —-
Is hot chocolate mix better with milk or water?
I prefer milk because it gives the hot chocolate a much richer and fuller flavor. If you are dairy-free feel free to use your favorite non-dairy milk!
