Homemade dairy-free hot chocolate mix creates this classic winter drink that everybody loves. This hot cocoa mix is made without powdered milk so it's super simple to make whenever you want.
Homemade hot chocolate is so comforting to drink as we watch the snowfall outside and the fireplace continues warming us inside.
I love to make my own hot chocolate mix because I love how much better it tastes than packet hot chocolate. It is rich and not too sweet.
This dairy-free hot cocoa is made with only 3 ingredients, including real sugar. A lot of recipes for hot chocolate mix use milk powder and powdered sugar. But I really wanted to only use organic and whole ingredients that I normally have on hand for this recipe.
Dairy-Free Hot Chocolate Mix Recipe
3-Ingredient Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix is super easy to make and super delicious to drink!
Cocoa powder
Cocoa powder is the powder version of cocoa beans. It has a rich chocolate taste that is not too overwhelming. I’m not a huge chocolate fan so it's perfect for my taste! You will want to use a good quality powder, I’ll link the one I love!
Sugar
I used 1 cup of cocoa powder and ½ cup of granulated cane sugar, and as a result, this hot chocolate mix is not super sweet, which is why I love it. However, if you prefer a sweeter drink, I suggest you use a ¼ cup more sugar than the recipe calls for!
Salt
Every sweet drink needs a little salt to help balance it out!
That’s it, a super easy recipe for a dairy-free hot cocoa mix that doesn't include any powdered sugar, milk powder, fillers, or artificial flavors!

Frequently Asked Questions —
I prefer milk because it gives the hot chocolate a much richer and fuller flavor. If you are dairy-free feel free to use your favorite non-dairy milk!
