Blueberry Iced Tea is a must for summer parties or cookouts. Made with black tea, homemade blueberry syrup and fresh lemon juice, this blueberry sweet tea is fruity, refreshing and quick to make – ideal for any warm day.

Why This Recipe is So Good
- This lemon blueberry tea is perfect for the summer time! Use up fresh summer ripe berries or frozen ones to make the blueberry syrup then serve everything over ice with fresh mint!
- It’s a fun flavored tea made with real blueberries and no artificial colors or flavors. Many store-bought iced teas can have a strong artificial taste to them. Which isn’t what we want. This blueberry tea is flavored with real fruit and sugar and tastes amazing.
- Double or triple this iced blueberry tea recipe to make enough for a party. You can make the tea up to 2 days ahead of time. Add ice just before serving.
Recipe Ingredients
Black tea – Use a strong black tea like Lipton or English Breakfast. I would avoid Earl Grey because the added bergamot might throw off the taste of the blueberry syrup and lemon.
Blueberry syrup – This simple syrup is made with fresh or frozen blueberries, sugar and water. It will sweeten the iced tea while adding a delicious fruity blueberry flavor.
Lemon juice – Iced sweet tea is not complete without a touch of lemon.

Notes
How To Store/ Make Ahead
- Blueberry iced tea is best enjoyed with 2 – 3 days of making it, but it can last up to 5 days in the fridge. As sweet tea sits in the fridge the flavor will start to change a little.
- Store any leftover blueberry syrup airtight container for up to 2 weeks in the fridge.
Tips and Tricks
- If using fresh blueberries first discard any bad-looking ones then rinse really well before cooking.
- Mash the blueberries with a spoon when straining to get some more of the flavor out.
- Simple syrup alternative: If you don’t want to make a blueberry syrup dissolve the sugar into the hot brewed black tea. Mash ½ – 1 cup of fresh or frozen and thawed blueberries with a fork or potato masher or in a food processor to break them down then combine the cooled tea. The blueberry flavor won’t be as strong but it will still be delicious.
Variations
- Add fresh mint to the blueberry syrup or muddle a few leaves to add to each glass.
- Include ½ teaspoon of dried lavender buds in the blueberry syrup for a different flavor.
- Swap out black tea for green tea in this recipe for a lighter tea flavor.
