Why This Recipe is So Good
First off, what does passionfruit taste like? Passionfruit is one of my favorite fruits because it’s so fruity and tropical. It’s very tart, slightly sweet and smells and tastes like a tropical vacation. Passionfruit is so good with any tropical fruit – mango, pineapple, coconut, etc, and it makes the best Passionfruit Iced Tea and lemonade. Really, you could add it to water and it would be amazing. It’s kinda annoying to try to find fresh passionfruit here in the Midwest, so I usually buy the frozen puree chunks from this brand.
This fun tropical mocktail is sweetened with a homemade passionfruit simple syrup. I used frozen passionfruit puree to make a simple syrup with sugar and water. You can swap the sugar for honey but it still needs to be heated because honey tends to clump in cold, icy drinks.
Recipe Ingredients
Passionfruit syrup – This is a simple syrup made with frozen passionfruit puree and equal amounts of water and sugar. It’s sweet, slightly tart and very fruity!
Lime juice – Plays so nicely with the tartness of the passionfruit. Add more or less depending on personal preference.
Sparkling water – Steps in for the alcohol in this mocktail recipe. Use any sparkling water you like. I used sparkling water because it stays fizzy for a while.

Make a passionfruit mocktail: Fill a short glass ¾ of the way with ice. Pour over passionfruit syrup and lime juice. Top off with sparkling water. Stir and enjoy!
Tips and Tricks
- Fresh passionfruit: Use 2 fresh passionfruit (2 tablespoons of pulp) instead of the syrup.
- Sweetness: Passionfruit and lime juice are pretty sour, so I used more syrup, but this is up to personal preference how sweet or sour you want your mocktail to taste.
- Sparkling water: Any type of sparkling water or club soda works here. Make sure it’s chilled and wait until you are ready to serve before adding the sparkling water so your mocktail isn’t flat.
- Variations: Mix in a splash of coconut water, pineapple juice, or even mango juice. Make a passionfruit mojito mocktail by including a few muddled mint leaves.
