This Homemade Naturally Sweetened Cranberry Sauce is made with fresh cranberries, golden maple syrup, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract. This sauce is delicious and the perfect addition to your holiday plate!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 ounces cranberries, fresh or frozen
  • 3/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 4 tablespoons water or orange juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Optional

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Rinse and remove any bad-looking cranberries.
  2. In a medium pot, add fresh cranberries, maple syrup, orange zest, ground cinnamon, and salt.  Mix everything together.
  3. Cook on medium heat until most of the cranberries have popped and you have a thick sauce, 15 minutes. Smash any remaining whole cranberries.
  4. Allow the cranberry sauce to cool until it reaches room temperature, then transfer the sauce to the refrigerator to cool completely. Serve cold.
