Why This Recipe is So Good

This mixed berry frozen yogurt recipe is super simple made with only 5 ingredients. You can grab your favorite summer fruits or a bag of mixed berries then mash or blend with sugar and yogurt then freeze – the Ninja Creami does the rest!

This triple berry frozen yogurt is made with good for you ingredients and you can customize this yogurt to hit your protein goals or switch up the fruit to your taste. Adding cherries or raspberries would be delicious as well!

Recipe Ingredients

Ingredients for mixed berry frozen yogurt on a counter.
  • Mixed berries – I used a mix of strawberries, blackberries and blueberries.
  • Sugar – Helps to sweeten the frozen yogurt and ensures it’s soft, smooth and scoopable. If you don’t add enough sugar the frozen yougurt will be icy and hard since there is so much natural water in the yogurt and fruit.
  • Yogurt – Plain or vanilla yogurt can be used to make this berry frozen yogurt. Swap it out for Greek Yogurt if you want to hit your protein goals.

How to Make Mixed Berry Ninja Creami Frozen Yogurt

All ingredients, measurements, and instructions are in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

Mash or blend the berries with the sugar. You can add all the ingredients to a blender, then blend until smooth or you can mash the berries with a potato masher and sugar until juicy directly inside the Ninja Creami pint container.

Stir in yogurt, then top with a lid and freeze for at least 22 – 24 hours on a level surface.

The next day, insert pint container into the Ninja Creami ice cream machine, then run it through the “LITE ICE CREAM” cycle. Your frozen yogurt might look a little crumbly at first – this is normal. Just smooth it out with a spoon. If it’s still a little crumbly, respin it with a small scoop of yogurt or a tiny splash of milk until it reaches your desired consistency. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup mixed berries I used a mix of strawberries, blueberries and blackberries, fresh or frozen
  • 6 tablespoons cane sugar or white granulated sugar
  • 1 cup plain yogurt or ¾ cup Greek yogurt

Instructions

  • If using frozen fruit, allow it to thaw and soften before trying to mash it with the sugar or add fruit, sugar and yogurt to a blender with sugar to blend until smooth.
If using vanilla yogurt, start with 4 tablespoons of sugar since it's already sweetened. Taste and add more sugar until it's as sweet as desired.
  • Add fruit and sugar to a pint Ninja Creami Container. Use a potato masher to mash the fruit until juicy and the fruit has reduced by half. (I didn’t want to dirty up a blender but you can just add everything(including the yogurt) to a blender to make this process quicker!)
  • Stir in the yogurt then top with a lid then freeze mixed berry yogurt on a level surface for 22 – 24 hours.
  • The next day, remove the lid then place the pint container into the Ninja Creami outer bowl then into the machine. Press the “LITE ICE CREAM” button then allow it to run through the whole cycle. This takes about 2 minutes.
  • Your frozen yogurt may look a little crumbly at first. Try smoothing it out with a spoon, then if it isn’t smooth, respin as needed with a small scoop of yogurt or splash of milk until smooth and creamy.
  • Scoop and enjoy!

Notes

How To Store/ Make Ahead

  • If you plan to respin your leftover hard frozen yogurt, use a spoon to level it out before refreezing so it doesn’t damage the blades of the Ninja Creami Machine.
  • If your leftover frozen yogurt is too hard, allow it to sit at room temperature for 5 – 10 minutes before enjoying. Or you can “RESPIN” it for a softer consistency. Make sure the frozen yogurt is level before respinning in the machine.

Tips and Tricks

  • Ninja Creami recipes can sometimes look crumbly right after blending. Usually, you can smooth it out with a spoon, and it will be smooth and creamy. If it’s still crumbly, add a small scoop of yogurt or milk to the mixture, then “RESPIN” it until it reaches a smooth and creamy consistency.
  • Yogurt: This recipe uses regular unstrained yogurt, which contains a high amount of water, so more sugar is needed for a soft and smooth frozen yogurt consistency. Greek yogurt is strained, so your frozen yogurt will be creamy regardless, but since it’s so sour, more sugar is needed for a sweet treat. Taste your yogurt mixture before freezing to make sure it tastes just the way you want.
  • Sugar: Since we are using unstrained regular yogurt that contains alot of water and juicy fruits it’s important to use all the sugar listed in the recipe to ensure you have a smooth, creamy, and scoopable frozen dessert. It might seem like alot but trust me it’s perfect! (If you are using sweetened vanilla yogurt, use 4 – 5 tablespoons of sugar)
