Why This Recipe is So Good
- No blender recipe! Sometimes, when you want to make a sweet treat, dirtying up too many dishes is simply too much. For this recipe, the Ninja Creami ice cream machine does the blending, so we only have to mash the strawberries with sugar right in the Ninja Creami pint container, then stir in the yogurt.
- It’s such a simple recipe, perfect for spring and summer. Strawberries are truly the star fruit of the summer and this ninja creami frozen yogurt is such a delicious way to enjoy them. Use fresh strawberries for the best fruity flavor or frozen to make this recipe any time of year.
- Making frozen yogurt in the Ninja Creami is super easy and you can customize it anyway you want. Try swapping out the strawberries for raspberries or peaches to make Ninja Creami Raspberry Frozen Yogurt or Ninja Creami Peach Frozen Yogurt.
Recipe Ingredients
Strawberries – Fresh or frozen strawberries are mashed with sugar right in the pint container to release their juices and intensify their flavor.
Vanilla yogurt – Vanilla yogurt is my favorite yogurt to use for froyo. It adds so much flavor and you don’t need to add as much sugar. If using plain yogurt, add a bit more sugar to your taste. For a high-protein option, use your favorite Greek yogurt. Just make sure to add more sugar since Greek yogurt can be very sour!
Cane sugar – This sweetens the frozen yogurt and gives it a soft and smooth consistency. Otherwise, if not enough sugar is used, the water in the strawberries and in the yogurt will give you a hard, icy, and crumbly texture.
How to Make Ninja Creami Strawberry Frozen Yogurt
All ingredients, measurements, and instructions are in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Add fresh or frozen strawberries into the Ninja Creami pint container with sugar. Mash berries with a fork or potato masher until they are juicy and have reduced in volume by half. If using frozen berries, allow them to thaw for 30 minutes first.
- Stir in yogurt until combined. Taste and add more sugar if you like. Top with a lid, then freeze on a level surface for 24 hours.
- The next day, insert the pint container into the Ninja Creami outer bowl, then blend using the “Lite Ice Cream” button. This cycle usually takes 2 minutes.
- Scoop and enjoy your strawberry frozen yogurt, or respin as needed with a splash of milk or a small scoop of yogurt until smooth and creamy.
Tips and Tricks
Mashing the strawberries with sugar helps to intensify their flavor, and it tenderizes them so they don’t freeze super hard in the yogurt.
Frozen fruit: You can use frozen strawberries, just make sure to thaw them first so you can mash them with sugar. Otherwise, the hard fruit can possibly damage the blades of the Ninja Creami.
Ninja creami recipes sometimes look crumbly right after blending. Usually, you can smooth it out with a spoon and it will be smooth and creamy. If it’s still crumbly, add a small scoop of yogurt to the frozen yogurt then “RESPIN” it until it reaches a smooth consistency.
Yogurt: I’m using sweetened vanilla yogurt. If you are using plain yogurt, you might need a bit more sugar. This recipe uses regular unstrained yogurt, which contains a high amount of water so more sugar is needed for a soft and smooth frozen yogurt consistency. If using Greek yogurt, use 6 tablespoons of sugar since it’s much more sour than regular yogurt. Adjust the sweetness of your frozen yogurt depending on how sweet you want it. Taste the mixture before freezing to make sure it’s just the way you want.

Ninja Creami Strawberry Frozen Yogurt
Equipment
- Potato masher or fork
Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh strawberries roughly chopped, 6 – 7 large strawberries or 8 ounces/ 1 ½ cups frozen strawberries
- 4 tablespoons cane sugar or white granulated sugar
- 1 cup vanilla yogurt or plain yogurt, ¾ cup Greek yogurt
Instructions
- If using frozen strawberries, allow them to thaw for at least 30 minutes before trying to mash them.
- If using plain yogurt, add an extra 1 – 2 tablespoons of sugar.
- Cut off the stems, then thoroughly rinse berries before roughly chopping. You should have 1 cup of chopped strawberries; this is about 6 – 7 large strawberries.
- Add 1 cup fresh strawberries or frozen strawberries into the Ninja Creami pint container with 4 tablespoons cane sugar. Mash berries with a fork (I find a potato masher is easier to use) until they are juicy and have reduced in volume by half.
- Stir in 1 cup vanilla yogurt until combined. Taste and add more sugar if you like.
- Top with a lid, then freeze on a level surface for 22 – 24 hours.
- The next day, insert the pint container into the Ninja Creami outer bowl, then blend using the “Lite Ice Cream” button. This cycle usually takes 2 minutes.
- Enjoy, or respin as needed with a splash of milk or a small scoop of yogurt until smooth and creamy.
Notes
How To Store/ Make Ahead
- If you plan to respin your leftover hard frozen yogurt, use a spoon to level it out before refreezing so as not to damage the blades of the Ninja Creami.
- If your leftover frozen yogurt is too hard, allow it to sit at room temperature for 5 – 10 minutes before enjoying. Or you can “RESPIN” it for a softer consistency.
