Why This Recipe is So Good

It’s watermelonWhat’s not to love? This watermelon sorbet recipe has so much watermelon flavor and it makes a totally refreshing sweet frozen treat with only 3 ingredients- cubed watermelon, lime and cane sugar. The Ninja Creami gives this watermelon sorbet the best sorbet texture with little effort!

It’s dairy free and super simple to prep in 5 minutes. If you want to switch things up, add fresh mint, strawberries or use lemon instead of lime juice. After blending the Ninja Creami, enjoy the sorbet as is or add scoops of it to sparkling water or lemonade for an extra fun drink.

Ninja Creami Watermelon Sorbet Ingredients

  • Watermelon – Sweet ripe watermelon cut into cubes. It’s ok if you have watermelon that’s a little less than perfect, since it’s going to be blended up anyway. I’ve made this sorbet with watermelon that wasn’t super sweet, and it worked out fine since there’s so much sugar in this recipe.
  • Lime – Balances out the sweetness of the watermelon. Just a little bit of lime does the trick!
  • Sugar – Since watermelon contains so much water, using a good amount of sugar is important so that the sorbet has a soft and scoopable texture. Otherwise, using less sugar will result in a hard, icy, and crumbly sorbet.

How to Make Ninja Creami Watermelon Sorbet

All ingredients, measurements, and instructions are in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

Add cubed watermelon, cane sugar, and lime juice into a blender, then blend until smooth. Pour mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container, making sure it doesn’t go over the max fill line.

Top with a lid, then freeze on a level surface for at least 22 – 24 hours until completely frozen solid.

Remove lid, then insert the pint container into the Ninja Creami outer bowl then into the machine. Press the “Sorbet” button and allow it to run through the cycle.

Smooth out sorbet with a spoon, scoop, and enjoy or re-spin if it has a crumbly texture.

  • 6 tablespoons cane sugar or white granulated sugar
  • Juice of 1 lime about 2 tablespoons

Instructions

  • Add cubed watermelon, cane sugar, and lime juice into a blender, then blend until smooth.
  • Pour mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container, making sure it doesn’t go over the max fill line.
  • Top with a lid, then freeze on a level surface for at least 22 – 24 hours until completely frozen solid.
  • Remove lid, then insert the pint container into the Ninja Creami outer bowl then into the machine. Press the “SORBET” button and allow it to run through the cycle.
  • The sorbet might look a little crumbly. First, try smoothing it out with a spoon. If your sorbet still isn’t smooth, respin as needed on the “RESPIN” cycle. Enjoy!

Notes

How To Store/ Make Ahead

  • If you want to respin your sorbet later. Before freezing leftover sorbet, use a spoon to level out the surface before refreezing. If the sorbet has an uneven surface, it can potentially damage the blades of the Ninja Creami machine.
  • If your leftover frozen sorbet is too hard, allow it to sit at room temperature for 5 – 10 minutes before enjoying. Or you can “RESPIN” it for a softer consistency. Make sure the surface of the sorbet is level before respinning to avoid any damage to your machine.

Tips and Tricks

  • Ninja Creami recipes can sometimes look crumbly right after blending. Usually, you can smooth it out with a spoon, and it will be smooth and creamy. If it’s still crumbly, “RESPIN” it until it reaches a smooth and creamy consistency.
  • Watermelon: Use seedless watermelon or remove all the seeds before blending. Your watermelon doesn’t have to be perfect. Use slightly mushy or not super sweet watermelon – the texture doesn’t matter since it will be blended and we’re adding additional sugar so your watermelon sorbet will be sweet regardless!
  • Lime: A tiny bit of lime juice is delicious to balance out the sweet flavor of the watermelon and sugar.
  • Sugar: It might seem like a lot of sugar, but it’s important to use a good amount of sugar to ensure your sorbet is smooth and scoopable since watermelon contains a lot of water. Otherwise, the water will become very icy and hard.
