Why This Recipe is So Good

It’s the perfect drink for hot summer days. Iced tea is always a summer go to and this tropical version is no different! It’s made by combining frozen passionfruit pulp with sweetened iced tea.

Passionfruit is a tart and tangy tropical fruit that smells heavenly. It pairs so well with other tropical fruits like lime, mango and pineapple and it makes the best Lime Passionfruit Mocktail, and it takes this iced tea to the next level!

Passionfruit Tea Ingredients

  • Black tea – Use a black tea like Lipton or English Breakfast. You want a bold black tea flavor.
  • Passionfruit – For this recipe, I used frozen passionfruit puree. It’s very inexpensive, and it’s easier to find and use than fresh.
  • Cane sugar – Used to sweeten the iced tea. You can replace it with honey or stevia. Or if you are using a passionfruit simple syrup, skip the frozen passion fruit, then use enough syrup to your taste.

How To Store/ Make Ahead

For the best flavor, store passionfruit iced tea in an air-tight container for up to 5 days in the fridge.

Tips and Tricks

  • Black tea: Use 2 tablespoons of loose-leaf tea, if you aren’t using tea bags.
  • Simple syrup: Use this passion fruit simple syrup to sweeten the iced tea instead of using frozen passion fruit pulp and sugar.
  • Sweeteners: Use cane sugar, white granulated sugar, honey, or stevia. Add more or less according to your taste.
  • Passionfruit: If you can’t find frozen passionfruit pulp, use passion fruit juice or 6 fresh passion fruit. Scoop out the seeds and blend with some of the iced tea then strain out the seeds and pulp using a fine mesh strainer. If you are having trouble finding fresh or frozen passionfruit, use this passionfruit puree – look for it on the fruit juice aisle!
  • Variations: Add pineapple juice or swap out the black tea for green tea.
