Why This Recipe is So Good 

  • It tastes so good! – If you are ginger and pineapple lover you will love these homemade ginger shots! The ginger flavor is strong and spicy and the juice is naturally sweetened with fresh ripe pineapple chunks. There’s lemon in it as well. You can add fresh or ground turmeric, honey, or apple cider vinegar for a different flavor.
  • Cost-effective and cheap! – Store-bought ginger shots can cost a pretty penny for just one. But for the price of 1 shot you can have enough juice for the whole week when you make them yourself. Fresh ginger, pineapple, and lemons will probably be $10 max – much better than store-bought!
  • This is a no juicer recipe! – If you have a high-speed blender and a fine mesh strainer or a nut milk bag, or a piece of cheesecloth, you can easily make these wellness shots. Save the pulp for smoothies or use it to make a refreshing tea.

  • Pineapple – I used half of a ripe pineapple. Its natural sweetness plays so well with the zesty and tangy flavors of the ginger and lemon. 
  • Ginger – Fresh ginger is best to use. Since we will be straining the final juice, you don’t have to peel the ginger.
  • Lemon – You’ll need the juice of 1 large lemon.

How to Make Pineapple Ginger Shots without a Juicer

All ingredients, measurements, and instructions are in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

  1. To a blender, add fresh pineapple chunks, peeled diced ginger, and 1 lemon. 
  2. Blend until smooth using a high-speed blender
  3. Set a fine mesh strainer over a medium-sized bowl. Pour mixture over a fine mesh strainer (Optional: line with cheesecloth or use a nut milk bag).
  4. Transfer juice to a mason jar with a lid, then enjoy 1 – 2 ounce shots.

Variations

  • Add a splash of apple cider vinegar
  • Add 1 tablespoon honey for extra sweetness
  • Add 1 teaspoon ground turmeric powder with ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
  • Add 2 ounces fresh turmeric(cut into 1-inch chunks) + ⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Use the pulp to make a pineapple ginger tea
  • Mix with coconut water to make a wellness drink instead of shots

  • 4 ounces ginger peeled optional, cut into 1 – 2 inch pieces
  • ½ pineapple peeled and cut into chunks, about 2 – 3 cups
  • 1 large lemon peeled

Instructions 

  • To a blender, add fresh pineapple chunks, peeled and diced ginger, and lemon.
  • Blend until smooth using a high-speed blender.
  • Strain through a fine mesh strainer set over a medium bowl. (Optional: line with cheesecloth or use a nut milk bag). Discard pulp or save to add to smoothies or make a tea out of it.
  • Transfer juice to a mason jar with a lid, then enjoy 1 – 2 ounce shots. Enjoy straight, or add water or coconut water if you want it less concentrated.

Notes

Yields 2 cups of juice or 10 (1.5 ounce shots)

How To Store/ Make Ahead

  • Store in the refrigerator for 3 – 5 days. The longer the juice sits in the refrigerator the less flavor-packed it will taste.
  • Freeze ginger shots into ice cubes to enjoy later for up to 2 months. Keep in mind that the shots might not taste as zesty or as flavor-packed when enjoyed from frozen.
  • Freeze the leftover pulp into an ice cube tray for smoothies for up to 2 months. 

Tips and Tricks

  • Using a fine mesh strainer exclusively might be easier than squeezing the juice out using cheesecloth. A nut milk bag is a great option as well.
  • Make sure to blend the juice until it’s smooth. You don’t want any large chunks.
  • Use less ginger if you want the juice to be less zesty.
  • You don’t have to peel the ginger if you don’t want to since we will be straining everything anyway.
  • Add more pineapple if you want your juice to be sweeter.
  • Use a spoon to peel the ginger. Trust me, it’s so much easier than using an actual peeler or a knife.
