Turkey Chili Recipe Ingredients

- Ground turkey – Ground turkey is very flavorful and a lighter alternative to traditional ground beef. Can swap with ground chicken if you like.
- Tomatoes – I used crushed tomatoes instead of tomato sauce for a chunkier chili texture, but regular tomato sauce works too.
- Spices – A mix of chili powder, ground cumin, and cayenne pepper for a kick of spice.
- Beans – I used cooked black beans. It adds tons of fiber and makes this chili even more hearty and filling. Red beans, kidney beans, or even white beans would be a delicious addition as well.
- Jalapenos – Added to the chili and served on top, make for an extra spicy turkey chili.

Notes
How To Store/ Make Ahead
- Storage: Store soup covered in the fridge for up to 5 days.
- Freeze: Transfer to freezer-safe containers (I did 1 cup portions) for up to 2 months.
- Reheat over the stove, covered, until hot.
Tips and Tricks
- Tomatoes: Crushed or diced jarred tomatoes work here. Tomato sauce or add in fresh diced tomatoes. Whatever you like or have on hand.
- Ground turkey: can substitute with 2 cups of cooked, shredded turkey leftover from holidays.
- Spice: I used cayenne pepper and diced jalapenos. If you want a less spicy chili, use less cayenne pepper and remove the ribs and seeds from the jalapeno peppers.
- If you are sensitive to heat, omit the cayenne pepper and jalapenos and use a mild or no spice chili powder.
- Options: Add canned or frozen sweet corn, cubed sweet potato or butternut squash, red beans, white beans, or omit the beans entirely.
