Homemade Apple Crisp is a delicious and sweet dessert. It has tender warm apples with a spiced brown sugar oat crumble topping and is delicious with homemade whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
Peel and core the Granny Smith apples. Cut the apples into ½ - 1 inch slices.
Place the apples into a round baking dish with vanilla extract, lemon juice, and sugar. Stir to combine.
In a small bowl, combine all-purpose flour, quick-cooking oats, dark brown sugar, salt, ground cinnamon, ground cardamom, and the melted butter. Spread the oat crumble evenly over the apples.
Bake the Apple Crisp for 25 - 30 minutes, or until the oat crumble is golden brown and the apples are soft. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
Notes
* If you don't have dark brown sugar, mix together molasses and granulated sugar. If the sugar isn't dark enough add a bit more molasses.
