Lamb is such a delicious meat with an incredible and unique taste. Because of its natural gamey flavor, this meat can be a little tricky to cook in a way that everyone will love. The air fryer is the perfect way to cook lamb chops because it cooks them so quick and evenly. As long as you don’t overcook them, these air fryer lamb chops will always turn out tender and juicy with only a hint of gaminess.

Because lamb is naturally very flavorful, I like to season them simply with just dried herbs, salt and black pepper. Feel free to use a homemade lamb seasoning blend or a mix of your favorite herbs and spices to really dress these lamb chops up!

If you need some meal ideas, pair these air fryer lamb chops with air fryer bacon wrapped asparagus, red mashed potatoes, or fingerling potatoes.

Ingredients For Air Fryer Lamb Chops

  1. Lamb chops – I used a frenched rack of lamb then cut them into individual lamb chops. If you are using lamb loin chops make sure to add a few extra minutes to the cooking time because they are bigger and thicker than these lamb rib chops.
  2. Olive oil – Lamb is pretty fatty but I like to rub the lamb chops with a bit of oil so that the seasonings stick to the meat better.
  3. Seasonings – dried rosemary, thyme, salt and black pepper! I like to use simple seasonings so that the flavor of the lamb can truly shine.

Tips and Tricks

  • Make sure to thaw the lamb chops completely, they will be easier to air fry and give a better texture and flavor.
  • If using a frenched rack of lamb use a sharp knife to cut in between each bone to achieve individual lamb rib chops. They will be a little smaller than a lamb loin but they are very tasty and tender.

Frequently Asked Questions  —

Why are my lamb chops tough and chewy?

This can happen if you overcook your lamb chops. They only take about 5 minutes to cook per side in the air fryer, so any longer than that can leave the chops dry with a chewy texture.

How do I know when the lamb is done cooking?

This will depend on the size and thickness of your lamb chops, but usually 8-12 minutes is all you need. If you have a meat thermometer you are looking for a temperature based on your desired level of doneness. 145F degrees for medium rare and if you prefer well done/ no pink lamb chops cook to 150 – 160F degrees.
