The Ninja Creami is the hot new machine on the market and it really is worth the hype!

I was skeptical about it because it is so different than my traditional ice cream recipes, which I absolutely love, and I didn’t really to try anything different. However, the Ninja Creami is very different from the traditional ice cream process.

Instead of making the ice cream base and then churning everything in an ice cream machine, with the Ninja Creami you combine all the ingredients together and then freeze it in the pint container. The machine then “shaves” the mixture until it becomes a very delicious frozen treat that is unbelievably smooth and creamy

This machine makes homemade ice cream with very little effort and without the need for eggs or having to cook anything

My whole family loves to have fun making different flavors of ice cream and sorbet using this machine and everything turns out great!  Because these Ninja Creami recipes contain less sugar than traditional ice cream recipes, they are a delicious treat that you can feel good about serving to your family this summer and all year long!

  • Whole milk – combined with heavy cream to give the perfect creamy consistency to your ice cream.
  • Heavy cream – adds creaminess and the perfect amount of fat to the ice cream.
  • Cream cheese – softened and makes this ice cream richer and smoother.
  • Vanilla bean paste for a rich vanilla flavor. Can use vanilla extract instead.
  • Cane sugar for sweetness.
  • Salt – just a pinch to balance out all other flavors

Variations

Recommended Tools

Ninja Creami Ice Cream machine, this is the one that I have.

Extra Ninja Creami pint containers, I HIGHLY recommend getting a few more containers because 24 hours is a LONG time to wait to make another batch of ice cream.

Ice cream storage containers, I love to store any leftovers in these reusable containers.

Tips and Tricks

  • It’s really important to mix the cream cheese with the sugar before trying to mix it with the other ingredients. Otherwise, you’ll end up with cream cheese chunks in your ice cream, which isn’t what we want! You could also try heating up the cream cheese first then combining it with the sugar.
  • If your ice cream turns out crumbly after spinning the first time, then run it through the RE-SPIN cycle with a splash of cream or milk until it reaches your desired consistency.

How To Store/ Make Ahead

Make ahead. You can make and freeze the ice cream base several days in advance. Then just pull it out whenever you want to blend.

Storing. I like to store any leftovers in these reusable freezer-safe containers. It can last in these airtight containers for several weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions  —

How long does it take to make ice cream in the Ninja Creami?

It takes 5 minutes to mix all the ingredients together and 2 minutes to process in the machine after the ice cream base has been completely frozen.

Do you have to wait 24 hours to use the Ninja Creami?

It is recommended to wait the full 24 hours before processing for the best results. However, I have tried to make ice cream and sorbet after 22 hours and it worked out just fine.

Why is my Ninja Creami ice cream greasy?

You probably used too much heavy cream or mixed it too much. It’s important to use the right amount of cream and milk to give a smooth consistency, and if the cream is mixed too much it can turn into butter.

Can you refreeze ice cream from the Ninja Creami?

Yes! It retains its creaminess even after freezing. If you want to pass it through the Re-SPIN cycle after refreezing just make sure it has a level surface.
