My family is just as in love with the Ninja creami ice cream machine as I am! We almost always have sorbet on hand and love to make homemade ice cream every week as a fun weekend treat.

This ninja creami cookies and cream ice cream is actually based on my ninja creami vanilla ice cream recipe and right before serving we blend in some crushed Oreos. So it has the perfect mix of creamy and bold vanilla ice cream flavor mixed with chocolatey Oreo cookies.

It’s a cookie and cream dream dessert that is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth!

If it’s your first time using the Ninja Creami, it’s a machine that you can make ice cream, sorbets, gelato, milkshakes, and more with. It’s very simple to use and most ninja creami recipes only require a handful of ingredients to make – 5 – 6 tops.

The ice cream base is made by mixing all the ingredients together in a mixing bowl and then pouring everything into the pint container.

After waiting almost a whole day for the mixture to freeze, your ice cream is then shaved inside the machine until you have a very smooth and creamy frozen dessert.

It takes like 2 minutes for the machine to blend everything and this recipe is very simple to make. The hardest part is waiting for everything to freeze, but it is definitely worth the wait!

Recipe Ingredients

Whole Milk and heavy cream – are used together to give your ice cream the perfect creamy consistency.

Cream cheese – softened to room temperature or gently heated. It is used to make your ice cream is even creamier.

Cane sugar – for sweetness. You can use regular white sugar instead if you like.

Pure vanilla extract to give a rich flavor. You can also use vanilla bean paste for a stronger vanilla flavor.

Salt – just a pinch is used to enhance the other flavors.

Oreo cookies – 4 – 5 cookies broken in half.

Step one. In a medium-sized bowl add softened cream cheese and cane sugar. Mix with a spoon until there aren’t any streaks or chunks of cream cheese. This is important because otherwise, you will have chunks of cream cheese in your ice cream.

Step two. Next, slowly whisk in the milk a little at a time until everything is well combined. Then add the heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt. Continue whisking until everything is well incorporated.

Step three. Now, pour the ice cream base into a pint container. Top with a lid then place on a level surface to freeze for 22 – 24 hours.

Recommended Tools

Ninja Creami Ice Cream machine, this is the one that I have.

Extra Ninja Creami pint containers, I HIGHLY recommend getting a few more containers because 24 hours is a LONG time to wait to make another batch of ice cream.

Ice cream storage containers, I love to store any leftovers in these reusable containers.

Pro Tips

It’s really important to mix the cream cheese with the sugar before trying to mix it with the other ingredients. Otherwise, you’ll end up with cream cheese chunks in your ice cream, which isn’t what we want! You could also try heating up the cream cheese first then combining it with the sugar.

If your ice cream turns out crumbly after spinning the first time, then run it through the RE-SPIN cycle with a splash of cream or milk until it reaches your desired consistency.

After mixing in the Oreo cookies, your ice cream will have a very soft texture. If you want it a bit firmer, place your pint container back into the freezer for 30 minutes – 1 hour before serving.

How To Store/ Make Ahead

Make ahead. You can make and freeze the ice cream base several days in advance. Then just pull it out whenever you want to blend.

Storing. I like to store any leftovers in these reusable freezer-safe containers. It can last in these airtight containers for several weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions  —

Why is my ice cream icy with Ninja Creami?

Your ninja creami ice cream can turn out icy if your recipe doesn’t have enough heavy cream or sugar in it. Both of these ingredients are important for giving your ice cream the perfect creamy ice cream consistency.

Why do you have to wait 24 hours for Ninja Creami?

It’s recommended to freeze the ice cream base for at least 24 hours to make sure the mixture is completely frozen because if not, it can possibly damage your machine. The most important thing is that the mixture is completely frozen, often times I blend it after 22 hours and it’s just fine.

How is the Ninja Creami different than an ice cream maker?

The processes are pretty different. For the ninja creami you freeze a blended ice cream base (or you can use whole canned fruit for sorbet), until is completely frozen. The machine will “shave” the ice cream base at a very high speed until it turns into a creamy frozen dessert.
On the other hand, with a traditional ice cream machine you will pour your chilled mixture into a chilled bowl while it churns the mixture causing very small icy particles to form. It is very creamy and has a nice soft-serve texture.
